Here we give you an insight into keeping and raising of our companion, the bullmastiff .
Keeping our Bullmastiffs
As we find keeping a bullmastiff as a kennel
dog is unacceptable, our dogs all live in our house .
The bullmastiff is
a dog who wants to be with his people and the most severe punishment for him
is to be left alone .
Several times each day, we take our dogs for a walk
and thus we familiarize them with all sorts of environmental influences .
Our breeding-quality bitches and stud dogs have a firm character, they are very good socialized companions .
Sound, agile bullmastiffs with a firm character, these are the essentials for selecting the dogs for our kennel .
We have had puppies from all matings of our dogs. In our opinion, only a bullmastiff who is well and sound is ready to procreate offspring .
We do not feed our dogs with any cheap food but with a special dry food for this breed without chemicals which is easy to digest, twice a day, refined with suitable ingredients .
Raising our Puppies
Our puppies are raised in house and garden. From the age of five weeks we take them along to get them together with the grown ups to familiarize them with the environment .
Together with the grown ups and jointly the puppies learn faster so that they can be handed over to their new owner as a firm character .
We always try to make the transfer for the puppy as easy as possible, because, you know, it is not easy for the pup to leave mother, brothers and sisters and also the well-known environment .
The pup should be able to associate itself with the new owner, it should have no problems when driving in a car, it should be able to walk on a leash and it should be house-trained. That is why we try to get the pups used to situations of every sort and thus enabling them to be prepared for new living conditions .
The buyers of our dogs come from Germany but also from abroad, as Canada and the US. Not only are they satisfied with their new companion but we also managed to build up friendship and partnership .
Only for a short period of time the puppies are fed with special puppy food, they soon get the normal dry dog food as the adults get . This is to ensure they do not grow too fast and that no disturbances of growth might occur . As a supplement for a good growth of the bones, the puppy will be fed with a special supplement .
